About Derek Morrison
Derek Morrison is a self-published author who recently released a revised edition of his memoirs. His writing shares an honest and inspiring account of his life’s journey, starting with being fostered into a loving white family before his first birthday. Through his memoir, Derek reflects on the challenges he has faced, the opportunities he has embraced, and the choices that have shaped the person he is today.
With over twenty years’ experience as a digital product leader, Derek is passionate about creating products that delight the customer and solve a real world problem. His forte lays in bring order out of chaos, creating high performing teams executing against a collaborative created vision and strategy.
His own journey wasn’t straightforward. After leaving school with disappointing results, Derek worked full-time while studying part-time for several years—eventually earning a Master’s degree from Kingston University.
As a public speaker, Derek loves sharing his story and practical insights with audiences. He’s equally passionate about coaching and mentoring, particularly those eager to grow in product management and leadership.
Outside of work, Derek is a family man, married with two adult children. He enjoys staying active with workouts and swimming at his local gym, he also is a advocate for a plant-based lifestyle. When the opportunity arises Derek enjoys playing chess, listening to podcasts and reading.
